Nutrient Uptake and Distribution in Mycorrhizal Cuttings of Populus × canadensis ‘Neva’ Under Drought Stress

Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) have been reported to improve the resistance drought stress in some plant species. The aim of this study was evaluate effects Rhizophagus irregularis inoculation on growth, photosynthetic capacity, nutrient uptake, and distribution poplar cuttings under stress. experiment performed with a randomized block design two factors: (i) AMF treatment, inoculated R. (AM) or not (NM); (ii) well-watered (WW, 70–75% field capacity), mild stressed (MS, 50–55% severe (SS, 30–35% capacity). results showed that colonized more than 70% roots cuttings. Drought limited growth capacity poplar, while increased height, stem diameter, dry weight, root net rate (PN), stomatal conductance (gs), intrinsic water use efficiency (WUEi) regardless treatment. decreased absorption nutrients affected their tissues. Regardless concentrations Ca Mn leaves concentration Cu roots. Under conditions, contents P, Ca, Cu, Fe, Zn significantly plants, stress, N, K, Mg leaves; Mn, roots; Moreover, principal components analysis poplars could increase nutrients. correlation indicated parameters gas exchange positively correlated leaf Zn.
